Before safety-sensitive work begins
Employers generally must receive a verified negative pre-employment drug test result before allowing a covered driver to perform safety-sensitive duties. Limited regulatory exceptions exist; a collection appointment alone does not satisfy the requirement.
A practical path from request to review
Tell us your hiring timeline and the driver’s location. We help coordinate collection and the laboratory and MRO process. Your authorized employer representative receives the appropriate testing information and decides when the driver may begin covered work.
Part of your hiring process
Pre-employment testing is separate from enrollment in a random pool and other employer obligations, including applicable Clearinghouse queries. We can discuss a random program alongside the individual test so your ongoing testing arrangements are ready.
Employer responsibilities remain with the employer. Read the official DOT / FMCSA guidance.
