DOT Post-Accident Testing

When an accident may trigger DOT testing, clear coordination matters. QuickLabs helps employers arrange testing when the FMCSA post-accident criteria apply.

Not every accident triggers a DOT test

FMCSA criteria consider fatalities, immediate medical treatment away from the scene, disabling damage requiring a tow, and qualifying citations. Employers must determine whether the circumstances meet the rule; testing should not be labeled DOT solely because an accident occurred.

Time-sensitive employer decisions

Post-accident testing has specific time limits and documentation requirements. The employer should promptly evaluate the event and follow the current FMCSA rule. Necessary medical attention must not be delayed for testing. Contact us to discuss collection availability; we do not promise around-the-clock availability.

Coordinate the required service

Have your authorized employer representative contact QuickLabs with the testing reason and collection location needs. We help coordinate the appropriate test. Your company remains responsible for the regulatory determination, required records, and employer actions.

Employer responsibilities remain with the employer. Read the official DOT / FMCSA guidance.

A useful question

Should testing delay emergency medical care?
No. Necessary medical attention takes priority. Follow the applicable FMCSA post-accident procedures and documentation requirements.
